Sampling for the Power Generation Industry

In the power generation industry, there are two main areas where sampling is required:

• Steam and Water sampling for Cycle Chemistry monitoring both in fossil, nuclear and special radioactive applications
• Solid fuel, such as coal and fly ash sampling using bulk solids samplers

Why do power plants sample?

They monitor/adjust water chemistry in order to:

• Maximize heat transfer efficiency
• Maximize time between chemical cleanings
• Maximize boiler life and turbine life
• Minimize operating & maintenance costs

• System design
• Subject constituents
• Chemical treatment
• System-specific problems
